Helping Donna in Her Season of Healing
Donation protected
If you are reading this GoFundMe it’s because you have some love for a very special person. Donna is an incredibly bright light and has helped so many people over the years, at this moment she needs us, as a community, to rise up and shine upon her.
In April Donna was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation (afib). Throughout the summer and early fall I watched her juggle her business, single parenting, and getting her son ready for his senior year HS and next year, college. I watched as it all became harder for her to juggle, honestly, I don’t know how she does it.
I went with her to doctor appointments and helped her make decisions. She seemed to be a perfect candidate for a cardiac ablation procedure, and it was scheduled for October 9th. She was very much looking forward to getting her heart back on track and putting this all behind her. All indications pointed to her needing about a week to rest and then she would feel better than ever.
Although the procedure was a success, there were complications during the procedure. There is a small artery that sticks out in 0.5% of the people that have this procedure, there is no way to tell beforehand, but Donna is one of these people.
That little artery was nicked during the procedure and it resulted in a 4" hematoma on the back of her kidney. Luckily, she did not lose a kidney, there will not be any permanent damage, and she did not need a blood transfusion. But this has been a traumatic experience physically and emotionally and after all of that, the afib came back.
Her recovery is making progress, but she will need to rest and take it slow for the next few months as she heals and has additional procedures to get her heart back into rhythm. Finances are already stretched as she has had limited capacity to work over the past 6 months since her diagnosis.
So many people that love her and Matthew have expressed a desire to help. This is where we can join together, show our love and support to help Donna in her journey back to health and take away some of the daily financial stress - any donation is appreciated more than words can express!
Please help me support this beautiful person and her AMAZING heart!
Love and Blessings,
Stephanie
