Hi, I'm Alex, and I'm building an app called SoberUp to help people escape the grip of opioid addiction.

A few years ago, someone very close to me was prescribed powerful painkillers after an injury/surgery. What started as legitimate pain management quickly turned into dependency. The withdrawal was brutal—constant cravings, anxiety, insomnia, and the fear that I'd never feel "normal" again. I know I'm not alone. Millions of people get trapped in this cycle every year after being given opioids for real pain. The opioid crisis isn't just headlines; it's real lives, families torn apart, and too many lost too soon.

That's why I'm creating SoberUp—a mobile app designed specifically to support people getting off opioids. Features will include:

Daily tracking of withdrawal symptoms and progress

Guided tapering plans (with doctor input reminders)

Coping tools like breathing exercises, motivational reminders, and community support forums

Connections to local resources, hotlines, and medication-assisted treatment info

Relapse prevention strategies and success stories from real users

This isn't just an idea—it's personal. I've seen (or lived) how hard it is to find tools that actually help during recovery. Existing apps often focus on general sobriety or alcohol, but few address the unique challenges of opioid withdrawal head-on. SoberUp aims to fill that gap and make recovery more accessible, especially for those who can't afford expensive rehab or therapy.

Right now, the app is in the early development stages. To get it built and launched properly, I need funds for:

Professional developers and designers (to make it user-friendly and secure)

Server/hosting costs and app store fees

Testing with beta users in recovery

Legal/compliance help (especially around health data and privacy)

Marketing to reach people who need it most

My goal is e.g., $9,000 depending on scope, and every dollar will go directly toward making SoberUp a reality. Any extra will help with ongoing updates and free access for low-income users.

If you've ever struggled with addiction, lost someone to it, or just believe in second chances, your support means everything. Even a small donation helps, and sharing this page could reach someone who needs it right now.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading my story and considering helping. Together, we can turn pain into hope—one sober day at a time.

With gratitude,

Alex
