Hi, my name is Julie. I’ve been friends with Dina since grade school. We played softball together, worked at the same job and were roommates at one point in our life. However, she’s currently fighting her 3rd bout with Metastatic breast cancer. The cancer started in 2017 after she woke up in the middle of the night with a sharp pain in her chest. After several rounds of testing, she was diagnosed with hormone positive breast cancer. She started chemotherapy treatment and had won the battle against cancer, temporarily. Unfortunately, in 2019, on Thanksgiving Day, as she encountered shocks of pain in her chest, she went to the ER. They recommended that she go back to Siteman Cancer center for a follow up to only learn the cancer came back to the bottom of her lung. She went through another round of chemo and thought this was going to be the last need for chemotherapy. Then in September of 2021, the cancer had returned for the third time, now in her lung and in May 2022, they found that it spread to her liver and eye. She has 3 MRI’s and 1 CT scan this week, to see if the recent treatments are working to shrink the cancer.
She is twice the cancer survivor and now a 3rd time a fighter. She keeps her faith strong, keeps her positive vibes and is determined to win the war against cancer, but the toll of possibly being on lifelong chemo to keep the cancer at bay has caused a massive financial burden. Because the chemo keeps her consistently sick and with no energy, she’s unable to keep a steady income. Because she does not have a steady job, the state insurance does not cover the cost for all the medications and treatments needed to help her survive and both her and I are scared at what may happen if she can’t get her treatments.
Right now, she doesn’t have enough money to pay for all her1 treatments, keep a roof over her kid’s heads as well as food in their bellies. I am humbly asking for anybody that has the ability and means to provide any type of financial support to help her kick this nasty disease’s ass and continue to be there for her two kids, it would be greatly appreciated. She is only 47 and is worried about her kids not having a mom.
What will the Go Fund Me donations be used for?
Because of the way the cancer has spread, the doctors shared chemotherapy may be a lifelong need in order for her to survive. She continues to keep her spirits up knowing she went cancer free before, and is confident she] can do it again. Access to cancer treatment is approximately $3000 every 21 days, and at this moment, we are unsure how long she will need to be on chemotherapy (it’s all dependent on how the cancer reacts to the new medication). She’s doing as much as she can to pay for rent, utilities and groceries for the kids, any extra money will be applied to her living expenses. When she beats cancer again and is able to stop the need for treatment, any donations remaining will be applied to somebody else in need with cancer treatment!
Thank you all for your generous consideration. I plan on updating this page as she continues to beat cancer again! God bless you all!
