UPDATE: Thankfully Dennis’s pension review completed early and the 65% survivors benefit starts at some point in April. It will definitely help some! We have a long way to go but I want to thank my friends who have contributed and/or shared and offered prayers so far. You are the best village anyone could have. If you have needs down the road, I will recover from this and continue to support your crowd funding requests. Love to all.
My husband Dennis passed away unexpectedly on March 6, 2026. I started a new job Jan 2 and did not realize that more paperwork was needed to assign and pay for life insurance for him and that I needed to ask for an additional form I was not previously told about. I thought selecting the salary multiplier and stating that it was for Dennis was all I had to do. Dennis didn’t have enough through his retiree benefits from the UAW to cover all expenses let alone help with bills. Additionally I was informed by social security that I do not qualify for a monthly benefit due to my full time work status, and his pension benefits which will be reduced to 65% will be removed for 90 days minimum while they review the case. I am responsible for all of the bills with only half the income. If you are able to help I greatly appreciate it. If not, shares and prayers are a blessing. I am hoping to avoid having to sell my home. It’s not how any of this was supposed to be but cancer is a thief and none of the weekly Dr visits led to cancer testing so by the time he was unable to even stand and I begged the hospital to look for cancer he was absolutely full of it with no chance to reverse it. He passed 4 days later.
Check your life insurance elections often and don’t assume that the paperwork was enough-in my case it was not.
Thank you for listening and God Bless You.
