Helping Dave Through Some Hard Times

Donation protected
Dear Friends,

November 17, 2021
Thank you to everyone who donated to Dave's fund.

We are so grateful for your kindness, support, well-wishing and encouragement. With your help, Dave was able to get the support and care he needed.

We are saddened to report that Dave passed away today, after battling illness for several years. As a result, we are suspending the campaign, but your thoughts and support are always welcome.

Please feel free to share your memories here or on Dave's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Musician/Dave-Frishberg-114740650400671/

If you would like to donate in memory of Dave, please consider donating to MusiCares, https://www.musicares.org/ an organization providing "a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need."

With great love and appreciation, thank you.

Huge thanks to the generosity of everyone who has donated to this campaign over the past year. Dave is beginning to get some of the assistance he badly needs. We can't thank you enough for your outpouring of support, kind words and of course your donations.

June 2019
Over the last few years, you may have noticed that your old pal, jazz legend Dave Frishberg, hasn’t graced the stages near you, nor tickled your ear drums and funny bones with new music. That’s because he’s suffered a series of setbacks to his health - some minor, some not-so-minor - that have kept him off the road and out of the studio, and steered him more or less into retirement.

We know; if only you’d been aware that Dave had retired, you would have given him a gold watch and a nice cake, right? Well, now you can give him an even better gift.

As it happens, coming along with Dave's health setbacks are expensive new medical realities. And though the spirit is more than willing, there’s only so much the wallet can do. In other words, those royalties from his work are nice, but they can’t cover everything.

Your donations will help provide long-term health care to keep Dave comfortable at home.

Dave and his wife April are asking for your help. It’s their great joy that Dave’s songs, like “Peel Me A Grape,” “I Want To Be A Sideman,” “Blizzard of Lies,” and (with Bob Dorough) “I’m Hip” have given you so much pleasure over the years. In return, they’re grateful for all the love, appreciation and support you’ve given them.  It's a poignant irony that "I'm Just a Bill" sparks such happy memories!

Now they’re asking if you might give a little more to assist them in this difficult time. Any amount will be appreciated, and if you’re not able to send money, warm thoughts and well wishes are also gladly accepted.

Whatever you can give, Dave and April know you will be generous, because you always have been, and they love you for it.

After all, generosity is the Hopi Way.

P.S. If you would like to enjoy Dave's wit and story telling, pick up a copy of his book "My Dear Departed Past "
