Hi, my name is Julie Nelson, one of Dave Bartusek’s many, many friends. Dave would do anything to help others, but this time, it’s Dave & his family who need our love and support ! Read Dave’s story below:
Dave noticed difficulty with swallowing while eating which lead him to having an Endoscope on Monday, May 9. He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer on Thursday, May 12. His doctors ran more tests and they found on Wednesday, May 18th the cancer had spread to his liver, resulting in a Stage 4 diagnosis. He started chemo on May 25th and continues to go every other Wednesday for treatment. Dave also had a port put in that continues to pump his chemo meds for an additional 46 hours on the weeks he has treatments.
Dave is employed by American Spirit Graphics but is currently on short term disability as they navigate this new reality. He is continuing to keep himself busy while allowing himself the time to rest and recover after each treatment. Dave and Cindy have three grown children, Trevor, Mackenzie (Johnny), and Shae, who all live close by.
For those of you who don’t know Dave (or know him) he’s never met a stranger, so next time you see him out and about enjoying his favorite things like being with his family, boating, anything ISU/Vikings be sure to say hello! He has been thankful for everyone who has reached out via calls/texts or visits to let them know they are thinking/praying for him.
Every donation is greatly appreciated - This will help alleviate some of the financial stress that cancer and ongoing treatments brings to a family. We pray Dave’s ongoing treatments will allow us many more years and memories together.
We understand not everyone is in a position to donate, so please feel free to share and we always welcome continued prayers! Dave’s family will update when they can.
Thank you all so much! ❤️
