I’m fundraising on behalf of my brother, a truly incredible 29-year-old who has been fighting cancer for the last 8 years. Daniel’s strength, resilience, and story deserve to be heard.

About Sarcoma - Synovial Sarcoma is a rare and aggressive form of cancer that begins in the bones or soft tissues such as muscle, fat, nerves, or blood vessels. Sarcomas account for less than 1% of adult cancers, meaning treatment options are limited and research is still developing. They are notoriously difficult to detect early and can spread quickly, often resisting standard treatment. For those diagnosed, the journey is unpredictable, challenging, and requires extraordinary strength, something Daniel has shown every step of the way.

Background -

In 2017, Daniel began experiencing extreme discomfort in his leg. After multiple tests and an initial misdiagnosis, he was eventually told he had Synovial Sarcoma. The tumour roughly the size of a tennis ball required two operations to be successfully removed, followed by six weeks of intensive radiotherapy after each surgery. Daniel recovered well and pushed forward with life as normal, refusing to let cancer define him or take away his spirit.

In 2019, Daniel received the devastating news that his cancer had metastasised to both lungs, and chemotherapy was now his only option. At just 23, Daniel was Stage 4. Following rounds of intense chemotherapy, surgery was required on both lungs in an attempt to remove the remaining tumours.

Since 2020, Daniel has undergone additional surgeries and further radiotherapy on his lungs every year. Still, his diagnosis never once defined him. He continued to power through with extraordinary courage, choosing to live life to the fullest despite constant setbacks. But when you think one person cannot possibly be asked to endure more, December 2024 brought another unimaginable blow: the cancer had advanced and metastasised to his spine.

By 2025, Daniel’s cancer had spread to virtually every bone in his body, his spine, pelvis, humerus, skull, femur, and more. For the past year, he has endured crippling and agonising pain, multiple bone fractures caused by tumours, and countless forms of treatment to try and manage the pain. Getting through the day can be unbearable. Yet not once has he complained. Daniel continues to push forward, and his positive spark has never wavered. His sheer determination shines through to everyone who knows him, even on his darkest days.

Recently, we received the heart breaking news that his sarcoma has progressed to stage 4 palliative. The cancer has now spread extensively throughout his body and, at this point, it is sadly easier to describe the places it hasn’t reached. Yet even with everything he is facing, he continues to show the same warmth, humour, and kindness he always has.

Daniel is someone who lights up every room he walks into. Even on his hardest days, when the pain is overwhelming and the exhaustion makes every movement feel like a battle, he still manages to smile and continues to protect the people he loves from worry. His strength cannot be measured, and he is a true inspiration to anyone he crosses paths with.

He has a loving partner of over 14 years who has been at his side through every step of this journey. Together, they’ve built a home filled with love, memories, and their shared passion for animals. It’s a home he worked tirelessly to create, one that brings him comfort even on the days when his illness makes normal life feel out of reach. But right now, despite everything he continues to fight for, the reality is that he is struggling in ways no one should ever have to.

As his illness has progressed so rapidly, he has been forced to reduce his working hours dramatically. In reality, he should not be working at all, but his stubborn strength and work ethic mean he keeps going, even when most people couldn’t. Because his hours have been cut so severely, he is now struggling to cover essential bills like water and heating. The financial strain on top of the physical and emotional weight of cancer is simply overwhelming. After everything he has already endured, the last thing he should ever have to worry about is whether he can afford the basics of daily living.

No one fighting for their life should ever have to choose between warmth, water, or comfort.

That is why this fundraiser exists.

Our goal is to relieve some of that pressure, to give him and his partner the breathing room they desperately need. Any funds raised will go towards essential bills, day-to-day costs, and making their home as comfortable as possible during this unimaginably difficult time. Most importantly, it will give them time: time spent together, creating memories, and finding small moments of peace in the middle of fear and uncertainty.
