Helping dad & mom after losing home in Gray Fire

Donation protected
Hello friends & family,
So many of you have reached out wanting to help and asking how you could help us during this time of great tragedy and loss. It's so hard to know practically what is needed, as the shock of losing the home is starting to wear off and phone calls with insurance and contractors and the various utility companies, and a whole myriad of other conversations are beginning to happen or are needed to be had.

We would love to help our mom and dad with any immediate out-of-pocket expenses that may or may not be covered. Just those small things: the charger for their toothbrushes (we got them a new one!) or socks or jeans or toothpaste or a myriad of other things that you just don't think of. You have 20 minutes to decide what to get out of the house with. This fire moved so quickly. We are so, so thankful that they were able to get out with their lives.

Anyway, all of you reading this know all of that. You know how amazing Joe & Sue are (a little weird to call them by their first names but just so you all know who we're talking about here, ha!) Your phone calls and texts and care during this extremely difficult time have been such beautiful reminders of God's grace and showing how much people care! Even people who don't know them personally want to help in any way they can. Thank you.

As we learn of practical needs (a couple below), we will share those with you but, in the meantime, so many of you have asked how you can help and this would certainly be a big help at least right now, as we navigate these next days, weeks, and months.

They are living in their motor home, so don't have a lot of room to take in meals. If you would like to contribute GrubHub, DoorDash, or even gas cards we can get you in touch. GoFundMe is not allowing me to share the email address, so reach out to one of us girls for that if you would like.

If you would rather donate through Venmo, please reach out and let us know that as well. We've already had several of you do this and my parents already have that cash in hand. :)

The photo collage above is before and after photos, as well as from this past Christmas in their home in Medical Lake, which was taken in the Gray Fire. Again, if you are here you already know this.

Well, GoFundMe is making me add additional information to this story. This is not a tax-deductible donation, just so you know. Joe & Sue are the beneficiaries of the funds. Amy (their oldest daughter) is writing this message on behalf of all their daughters (Hannah, Joy, Nicole, and Jasmine) and our respective families. We live in Spokane and our parents live in Medical Lake where the Gray Fire took their home. These funds will go toward helping them with their immediate financial needs as well as helping them stay afloat during this time to re-stock their clothing, shoes, toothpaste, coats, movies, food, immediate places to stay until insurance might kick in, etc. Basically, anything to help them get back on their feet. I hope that is transparent enough as to what the funds will be used for.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the love and outpouring you have shown Dad and Mom during these past few days.

All our love,
The Shelley girls
