Beginning in October, Corrina’s eldest son Joe (17 years old) began to have some pretty significant health problems—his heart stopped on the basketball court and after many months of illness, tests, hospital stays and travel, there are still more questions than answers. Because of these events, Joe lost his plans of completing his Senior Year as a normal student, playing basketball and his whole life changed. He had to quit his job as well. He lost plans of getting an academic and/or basketball scholarship. However, he’s working very hard to still complete his Advanced Diploma through Homebound Schooling, and this too has taken a lot of additional time and efforts for Corrina. During his illness, she’s lost several months of income and in addition has incurred thousands of dollars in medical bills. Many of you may not realize that Corrina has full custody of both boys without any support whatsoever. She started her family here 18 years ago and has raised her boys alone without any family nearby, and as a single mom of two boys, this crisis has hit home especially hard. Through it all, anyone who knows Corrina knows that she smiles and continues to give all that she can to the people around her. She is a true example of serventhood as she consistently goes above and beyond for friends and strangers alike. In fact, if you know her you may not even know that their family is in a precarious situation.
To make matters worse, a week ago Corrina got an unexpected call that her mother had taken her own life. Corrina, devastated, quickly had to rally her family and get there for arrangements while still trying to make sure they boys needs remained met. Now with the added cost of a funeral, caring for additional family members, Joe’s illness, and more, many have asked what they can do to help. The number one need for Corrina right now is financial. She needs to keep her kids fed, her bills paid, and continue to keep her kids safe and their needs met in a very short amount of time. It is very difficult for her to ask for any type of help so as her friend I am asking for her (other friends are welcome to share this post as well). If Corrina has somehow blessed your life, she needs you now—please consider helping her family through this hard time!
With our help and support as a Community, I’m sure Corrina and the boys will be on a better path in no time.
Corrina is reeling and apologizes for not responding to each of your posts of love, prayers, support and encouragement directly, but she appreciates every one of you ❤️
Thank you in advance!
