Helping Cole Recover After His Dirt Bike Accident

Donation protected
As many of you know, my brother Cole was in a serious dirt bike accident on Friday, October 24th. He was unconscious for nearly 10 minutes and suffered a seizure at the scene. He had to be sedated and intubated for the helicopter ride to UT Health in Tyler, Texas.

After arriving at the hospital, scans revealed a hematoma with minor brain bleeding, a bruised lung, and issues with his shoulder (thankfully, no broken bones). It took some time before he could be taken off the ventilator, but by Friday night, he was breathing on his own in the ICU.

Cole experienced memory loss, confusion, and difficulty walking or maintaining balance while in the hospital. On Saturday, he still wasn’t very coherent and showed little improvement, but by Sunday, we finally started to see progress — his memory began returning, and he became more aware of his surroundings. That evening, he was discharged with instructions for physical therapy and lots of rest.

Unfortunately, once he got home, Cole had a rough night. He was in severe pain, especially in his shoulder, couldn’t sleep, and was extremely restless. After a long night of caring for him, his girlfriend Kalyssa and I decided to take him back to the hospital early Monday morning — and we’re so glad we did.

At Medical City Plano, doctors repeated scans (which thankfully came back clear!) and gave him medication to help him stay calm and manage his pain. He’s now home again, continuing to recover, but it will take time for both his brain and body to fully heal.

We are beyond grateful that this accident didn’t have a worse outcome. His bike is in one piece and his helmet cracked during the crash, but it truly saved his life. The road ahead will be about patiences, healing, and steady progress.

For now, Cole is unable to work, and Kalyssa and I are taking time off work to care for him, as he still needs support with daily tasks. Any donation to this GoFundMe will go directly toward medical expenses and essential bills while he recovers.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has reached out with calls, texts, prayers, and love. Your kindness means the world to us and keeps us going through this tough time.

We are hopeful that, with rest and time, Cole will make a full recovery and get back to his normal routines soon.
