I am Craig Brown (no relation) a former player and friend of Robert Daniel Brown. 

Coach Bob Brown needs our help more than ever before. Having survived two strokes, three hip replacements and a heart procedure, the old ball coach is facing one of his toughest challenges. 

Late Friday night July30th, Bob's right lower leg below the knee was amputated due to blood clots. The doctors tried every option possible to save his leg, but the clots could neither be dissolved with blood thinner nor removed by catherization. Amputation was the last option. 

Coach has lived on his own for over 40 years. He has no one in the home who can attend to him and care for him through his rehabilitation which will take months. Those of us who live nearby will do our very best to care for him, but he will require far more than we can offer. 

He bought our uniforms. He gave us rides home when we lived far out of his way. He dedicated over 48 years of his life to help us develop as better athletes and men. And he did it all with little or no recognition.  

Was he unreasonable at times? Sure. I mean, we knew what was best when we were 14-18 years old. 

Our time has arrived to help give back. Please give out of the goodness of your heart and put aside your bitterness about that extra suicide he made us run.  

Coach has now lost most of his mobility and a lot of his independence. No better time than now for him to be dependent on us his former players, friends and family.
