Helping Clifford Powers-Covid Ventilator Survivor
Donation protected
Many may know our story and many may not. We are across the country in Arizona from our home state of Virginia working. While here we both became very sick with the covid virus right after Thanksgiving. By December 16th my husband Clifford was admitted in the hospital with acute Respatory failure. By December 17th was placed on a ventilator. He survived 5 infections, 3 blood transfusions, septic shock, organ failure, blood clots, lost 65 pounds, a collapsed lung filled with blood, extreme muscle loss, and many other horrific trials. He was given a 2% chance to live. After 57 days of being in a coma in ICU, he was transported to a long term rehabilitation center to wean off of the ventilator and recieve physical rehabilitation. For every one day on a ventilator it is 4 days of recovery. Every single muscle has to be rehabilitated starting with the lungs and diaphragm. He had to learn to do everything all over again, even swallow. He has came a very LONG way in his recovery! He is truly a miracle. The doctors said he is only the 3rd to survive in the last 2 years in their ICU. During this time I have tried to find financial help, overturning every rock to no prevail. There is no covid relief as of last year. He is not approved for workman's comp, unemployment or any of that since he is unable to be employed being in a hospital. We looked into refinancing the house to borrow money and every avenue we try they all want him to have employment to pay the bills. As a last ditch effort we are creating this page to seek relief. This doesn't even begin to touch medical bills as it is merely to catch up on the mortgage and regular bills and for food, and gas for follow up appointments.. it has been 4 months since we have recieve an income. The only income we have had is my unemployment which is honestly just enough for food and gas to get to him at the rehabilitation center. I have gone every single day for 12 hours a day to work with him in the hospital bed, and it has shown great improvement. The center said he is the fastest recovery they have ever seen. He has came a long ways but we still have a ways to go.. it has now been over 11 weeks. If you find it in your heart to help we thank you greatly. To those who have prayed and blessed us already...we couldn't have made it this far without you. May God bless you plentiful.
Thank you sincerely,
