Helping Chris Help Others
Donation protected
In 2016 Chris was diagnosed with a rare spinal cord disease called Syringomyelia. It’s characterized by fluid cysts or cavities that form inside the spinal cord causing debilitating neuropathic pain/sensations, intense nausea, dysphagia, migraines and other symptoms . Unfortunately, there is no cure. His life for the past two years has changed dramatically to say the least. Once an avid rock climber and outdoorsman , he’s now had to hang it all up due to pain.
Chris will be the first to tell say how fortunate he is to make a living coaching and training young climbers, something he loves to do. Unfortunately, his medical debt has increased rapidly over the past year and half as he has been working with a pain management and physical therapist in order alleviate/manage his symptoms. Chris describes his therapy as “touch and go,” some days being than others. In short, between his required yearly MRI’s, multiple ER visits, pain management, therapy, testing, and specialist visits it’s becoming nearly impossible for him to keep up financially. Insurance has been little to no help, as he falls under “pre-existing condition”. For nearly two years he’s been pressing on as best he can, but now he could use our help.
For those of us who know Chris, we understand how important the climbing community is to him. This fundraiser was put together with the intention of helping Chris with not only his medical debt but also so that he may continue his pain management and physical therapy, ultimately allowing him to spend more time doing what he loves.
We realize this goal is a bit lofty but this is the reality that Chris is dealing with. Our hopes are to spread this to as many folks as we possibly can. So please, share Chris’s story and if you’re able, we appreciate any donations you may be willing to make. Thank you.
