Hi! Our names are Sophie and Lauren, and we’ve recently begun working at a daycare in Arusha, Tanzania, spending time with incredible children between the ages of 7 months and 5 years old.
When we first launched this GoFundMe, our hope was to raise $1,500 to support a beautiful little daycare in Arusha, Tanzania—a place that has quickly captured our hearts. Our initial goal was to help build and provide a functioning bathroom and toilet, something the school does not have. Thanks to your generosity, we reached that goal in just a few days. Today, we’re incredibly humbled and thrilled to share that we’ve raised far past our initial goal! Your kindness is not only helping us provide essentials like food, hygiene supplies, clothing, and learning materials—it’s now opening the door to something even more powerful: permanently securing a future for this school and the children it serves.
The daycare is run by an extraordinary woman who has dedicated her entire life to educating and caring for underprivileged children in Tanzania. Many of the kids who attend her school come from families who cannot afford even the most basic necessities—some do not have homes, some sleep on the floor, and many rely on the school for their only meal of the day.
Over the years, this woman has opened six different schools, but each one has eventually been forced to close due to lack of sustainable funding. This current school has been open and thriving for eight years, offering safety, education, and love to dozens of children.
Now, the building the school operates out of is being put up for sale. And we have a chance to help this incredible woman purchase it outright. We have the opportunity to allow the school to stay open permanently, keeping it safe from evictions, or closures. It would become a lasting, stable home for generations of children to come.
