Helping Charlie Through Jolly Cooperation

Donation protected
I'm putting this fundraiser together for my pal, Charlie. Charlie has ASD, ADHD, severe endometriosis and bursitis.

I've known Charlie for around 8 years and I can honestly say she has the kindest soul, endlessly caring for those other than herself.

The help of these donations will help Charlie to access Japanese lessons, helping her to socialise outside of her very small circle of close friends and access medication in order to gain life changing treatment for her endometriosis.

My partner, Dave, has put together the below to give you more information as to why we have put this together.

"I have known Charlotte since 2006, at which time I was recovering from a near fatal RTA and coming to grips with the resulting paraplegia. Her friendship provided a connection and lifeline that at the time I was unaware I needed but upon reflection it was a key reason I was able to cope with such a life changing event and retain my sanity.

Since our first chance meeting, we have spent a growing amount of time together and currently interact on some capacity nearly every day. We have become close friends and I have no hesitation in putting my absolute faith in her.

Charlotte is an articulate, erudite, conscientious, and thoughtful woman. She has a sharp mind and is quick to laugh, with a great sense of humour. Her moral compass is unwavering and has on more occasions that I care to admit steered me back on course when my own has wavered. She has a strong understanding of right and wrong, a rarely seen work ethic and commitment to both task completion and quality of delivery. Of her many positive traits, the most apparent is her fierce loyalty to those she holds dear. Friends and family are lucky enough to benefit from her selfless dedication to their well-being, despite the many challenges she has to overcome on a daily basis with both her physical and mental health. In the years we have been acquainted, Charlotte has come to terms with more than one diagnosis to long standing hindrances to her health. But rather than see the negatives in these events, she rose from them feeling relieved and validated that her gut feeling was correct and there was reason to her ailments, despite years of being dismissed. This goes to further illustrate her tenacity and strength of belief.

Charlie is the most caring, considerate, and honest person it has been my distinct pleasure to ever meet. She is my very best friend.

Currently, Charlie struggles with both physical and mental hurdles on a daily basis. Both of which can make normal interactions exceptionally difficult for her. Despite this, she is always willing to try and make contact outside of her own mind, and attempts to overcome her difficulties where many would simply give up. Myself included. Regardless of the set backs and hurdles that have been placed before her, Charlie continues to test herself and the limitations of her diagnosis.

Her great love of anime led her to begin studying the Japanese language; as she found the subtitles disctracting from the animation and the voice over dubs were less than accurate of the source. Even though ADHD see's her lose focus mid conversaion sometimes she focussed her will into the Japanese classes and to date has studied in some capacity every day for over 3 years, dualingo keeping track of her progress. She pushed down her anxiety and shyness to begin online lessons, being part of a class of students was far from a comfortable environment for her but she persisted and is now reaching conversational levels of Japanese in both written and spoken.

What I am asking, is for a donation, a token however small, to help my friend continue her studies in a language she has come to love. To cover the fees for her courses where she can no longer due to the high cost of living using almost all of her disability benefit allowances. If the reception is good then perhaps it may even cover some of her medication costs to allow her a few more animes to watch and practice Japanese."

Alongside being a badass, cool, Japanese speaking northener, Charlie also makes some awesome digital art. I'll link her page below for anyone who fancies a look.

Thank you.

Praise the sun.
