Helping Charlie George Rebuild

On Sunday June 2nd, 2024, our dear friend and Cowichan Tribes member Charlie George, had to watch his ancestral home burn down.

As many know, trying to get insurance for an on-reserve home is incredibly difficult, and unattainable for some. This suspicious fire has taken his families traditional and irreplaceable regalia and family masks inherited from his grandparents, as well as other mementos and contents.

We are putting this GoFundMe together for funds to go directly to Charlie so he can start the long process of rebuilding.

Charlie George is a well loved community member in Duncan, across BC, throughout the Friendship Centre Movement and beyond. If anyone knows Charlie, when they ask for spiritual and cultural help he gives it without question. Now is the time to return some of the love and support he has given to us, so that he can rebuild his home, and try to replace some of what was lost.
