Helping Cassi with ongoing therapy

Hello, my name is Adina (Cassandra ‘s mother)and I have started this gofundme for my daughter Cassandra .

She is a4 years old sweet little girl. In March 2024 she suffered a brain inflammation along with a stroke that affected her right side mobility and vision.Was in Great Ormond Street hospital from London for a month , had double cranioectomy and now awaiting second surgery for putting back the missing bone flaps from her skull(each side,hence wearing the helmet).

The official diagnosis was post viral autoimmune encephalitis with stroke and loss of right side peripheral vision. All this due to doctors ignoring my complaints and hers about having constant headaches and recurrent ear infections. When discharged from hospital she could not eat,drink,talk or walk.After months of support from the Nhs and 2 months of intensive rehab in a center for children with brain injuries she recovered very well in her mobility and cognition but still needs support with daily activities like eating, supervision at all times due to bumping in to things because of her vision,ongoing physiotherapy(because she still can not fully use or control her right hand,loss of muscle strength) , occupational therapy for learning again essential daily skills(toileting,getting dressed,holding knife and fork properly) and many more. Like all other 4 years old she like to be very active and play a lot but this is difficult for her due to her condition. We try and support her as much as we can but it is getting very hard financially, I would love her to go again in the rehab center for intensive rehabilitation but the fee is very high and we could not afford it,also she now does not qualify for it though founding from nhs.

Meanwhile we try and pay for private sessions of OT or physiotherapy but they are quite expensive too and we can only afford one or the other every other week.

(The medical system only gives the child a certain amount of sessions according to them which Cassandra already finished so now she is left with nothing unless we go private)

Ciao, mi chiamo Adina (la madre di Cassandra) e ho avviato questa campagna GoFundMe per mia figlia Cassandra. È una dolce bambina di 4 anni. A marzo 2024 ha sofferto di un'infiammazione cerebrale insieme a un ictus che ha influenzato la mobilità e la vista del lato destro. È stata al Great Ormond Street Hospital di Londra per un mese, ha subito una doppia cranioectomia e ora è in attesa di un secondo intervento per rimettere i lembi ossei mancanti dal suo cranio (ogni lato, quindi indossa il casco). La diagnosi ufficiale è stata encefalite autoimmune post virale con ictus e perdita della vista periferica destra. Tutto questo perché i dottori ignoravano le mie lamentele e le sue di avere mal di testa costanti e infezioni ricorrenti all'orecchio. Quando è stata dimessa dall'ospedale non riusciva a mangiare, bere, parlare o camminare. Dopo mesi di supporto da parte del servizio sanitario nazionale e 2 mesi di riabilitazione intensiva in un centro per bambini con lesioni cerebrali, si è ripresa molto bene nella sua mobilità e cognizione, ma ha ancora bisogno di supporto con le attività quotidiane come mangiare, supervisione in ogni momento a causa degli urti contro le cose a causa della sua vista, fisioterapia continua (perché non riesce ancora a usare o controllare completamente la sua mano destra, perdita di forza muscolare), terapia occupazionale per imparare di nuovo le abilità quotidiane essenziali (andare in bagno, vestirsi, tenere correttamente coltello e forchetta) e molto altro. Come tutti gli altri bambini di 4 anni, le piace essere molto attiva e giocare molto, ma questo è difficile per lei a causa della sua condizione. Cerchiamo di sostenerla il più possibile, ma sta diventando molto difficile finanziariamente. Mi piacerebbe molto che tornasse al centro di riabilitazione per un percorso riabilitativo intensivo, ma il costo è molto alto e non potremmo permettercelo; inoltre, ora non ha i requisiti per usufruirne, nonostante i fondi del Servizio Sanitario Nazionale. Nel frattempo cerchiamo di pagare sedute private di terapia occupazionale o di fisioterapia, ma sono piuttosto costose e possiamo permetterci solo l'una o l'altra ogni due settimane. (Il sistema medico assegna al bambino solo un certo numero di sedute, secondo loro, che Cassandra ha già terminato, quindi ora non le resta nulla a meno che non passiamo alla terapia privata) Sarei molto grata a chiunque possa donare una piccola somma per raggiungere questo obiettivo, così speriamo di poterla aiutare a raggiungere il più possibile e magari tornare alla normalità un giorno.
