Helping Carson on the Road to Independence

We have come a long way. After 9 months and 7 facilities – bringing Carson home in Dec, dog therapy and her program at AIM has been the right thing to do. 10 months ago, we had doubt we would see this scene again. Carson and my family appreciate all the support, cards, calls, texts and prayers you have sent our way. It has made such a difference. We have a way to go though, so I am opening up a GofundMe again so Carson can get to the finish line. We have had a few setbacks.

1. Aetna has denied coverage for TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation). This is WRONG and against the advice of THREE doctors. We are appealing, but this will take more time than we have, maybe years. Carson is in the middle of the 6 week TMS protocol and it is working. She is coming out of the darkness and taking positive steps towards getting back on her feet and back to work.

2. Carson’s father had finally promised her some financial support for living and medical expenses. This promise he made in front of her medical team. True to his history over the past 12 years – once it was time to do right by his children– he reneged, stating he was building a lake house and traveling. The ongoing lack of financial or emotional support from her father has been a huge rejection and disappointment for Carson.

3. During the 10 month course of this process, Carson lost most of her belongings – either stolen from the facilities or sold by her ex-roommate to pay the remaining rent. I was able to have some of her personal items shipped here – but she is without many essentials including a laptop and furniture. She is truly starting over.

This GoFundMe has been recreated with the intention of getting Carson to the finish line – through this much needed treatment and back to independence and work. I sell a lot of houses, but not enough for all of this. I have had many doubts, doubters and am drained, but I know I am doing the right thing for Carson. We are fighters and we are so very grateful for our friends and kind people. Thank you so much!
