On Friday July 31st, 2020 Monroe Township Fire Department Captain Joe Liedel was at home when the fire pager sounded for a call for service. As Joe was responding to the call for service while walking to his Jeep, he collapsed and was found by his neighbor who noticed that Joe was having a medical emergency and immediately called 911. The Monroe Township Fire Department was clearing one call for service and now was responding on one of our Brother Firefighters. Monroe Community Ambulance 5804 transported Joe to the Promedica Monroe ER. After being evaluated by the ER Doctor he was found to have a serious brain bleed. Advanced Life Support was established and Promedica Air flew Joe to Toledo Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Joe has served as a Monroe Township Firefighter for 28 years; Joe’s treatment plan and future are difficult and unknown. Joe has spent most of his life serving his community, but now he needs our help. Please help if you can. The funds raised will be used to cover his medical bills and other financial obligations now and in the future. Our hope is these funds raised will help alleviate his financial burdens so that he can focus on his health and getting back to serving his community.
