Helping Cali and Bella the Italian street dogs.

Update : Bella , a female has now come on the scene and has not left Audrey or Cali’s side.  We are now also trying to raise funds for her passage back to the UK . 

Hi everyone. I am fundraising to get a little street dog in Italy back to the UK

My sister left UK for Italy to have a sabbatical for a few months . She was in overwhelming pain with grief over losing our dad then her best friend and soul mate Maxi , her beloved pooch . She also suffers from a neurological disorder which can be disabling at times .

A few days after arriving to the little Italian mountain retreat she was sat outside the house having a little cry . Along came a street dog who offered her comfort by giving Audrey his paw . He stayed with her for a short time then left . That evening she noticed he was lying outside in the courtyard and one wet and windy night he was lying in rubbish bags that my sister had put out for the bin man . This broke her heart. There is a little room external to the house where it is thought a donkey use to live a century or so ago so it is called the “ donkey room”. Audrey opened the door and let the dog in to shelter from the cold and rain . She bought him some blankets and put a little heater in the room to keep him warm .

A month on and he is her little buddy . He sings for his supper and Audrey feeds him twice a day . He wanders off but every night she finds him in the little room waiting for a cuddle and for her to tuck him in .

This little boy walks my sister to the shops and he waits patiently when she is struggling with her walking . This is the neurological problem. When she has an emotional episode and sobs , this little lad puts his head on her chest to try and comfort her the only way he knows. He has been a massive comfort and the bond they have developed is unbelievable in such a short space of time.

We need to get this little fella back to the UK as he will not survive the Italian winter in the mountains and he will pine for Audrey. Please please could I ask for a small donation to get Cali back to the UK to the person he has chosen to be with. He lives in a mountain village called Calitri so Audrey has called him Cali .

Your donations will be used for vet fees , inoculations, pet passport and a flight out from Italy .
