My name is Anne O'Brien, a long term Sonoma county resident and yoga practitioner/teacher.

Our community has been impacted by senseless violence. This is a call to action to help Caitlyn Slater, the 26 year-old daughter of MaryEllen Whitton, a beloved yoga teacher in Sonoma County. The picture on this appeal shows Caitlyn's beautiful smile, how it was before January 31, 2024.

On that day in San Francisco, Caitlyn was attacked by a man who wielded a hammer and a knife, hitting her in the upper jaw, knocking out 3 front teeth. He then stabbed her, puncturing her left lung, narrowly missing her heart.

Emergency surgery at UC General repaired her lung which will heal in time. However, Caitlyn will require major dental work to replace the teeth he destroyed with the hammer. Her dental insurance does not cover the costs of the three implants she needs. Please donate what you can to help the family defray medical costs. Your help is needed and appreciated.
