On July 19, Cait was shot six times during a violent home invasion when an intruder kicked in her door. Six months later, three bullets and a lot of fragments remain in her body. Cait has already endured several surgeries such as a liver mesh, a humorous bone replacement, a chest tube for a collapsed lung, a drain for an abscessed liver, etc. and still she faces an undetermined number of surgeries in the future. Her recovery is ongoing, complex, and life-altering.

Today, Cait is a mother focused on healing along with continued surgeries while continuing to show up for her young son, Ollie, with extraordinary strength. She manages daily pain, medical appointments, and physical limitations that most people never see—while still prioritizing her child’s sense of safety and stability. The road ahead is long, and much of it remains medically uncertain.

Ollie is a resilient little boy who is learning how to feel secure again. He is back in school, surrounded by people who love him, and taking brave steps toward normalcy. Like many children who have experienced trauma, his healing depends on consistency, patience, and the steady presence of his mother.
