Helping build the fire line!

Hello, my name is Alek from Carson City, Nevada. I am helping a community gather the funds that were necessary to prepare a fire break behind their homes. A small community of homes just outside of the Caldor fire in California, was being threatened by the rapidly growing fire. The fire crews are so grossly understaffed for this, that the community was left fending for themselves and all came together to prepare a fire break necessary to save the homes of the community. While the fire break is now prepared and being actively used, it came at no free cost. Every single person in the community who came together for this great effort has not only come out of pocket for all costs, but many have had to take unpaid time off of work just to do what was necessary to save the homes of the community. Due to their restless efforts, their community may remain safe. However the community is in dire need of extra funds to cover the extreme costs of the equipment that was used. In the words of community resident Jobadiah Giles, "We had about 20 guys come yesterday to volunteer and help out with clearing and line creation, we had an excavator, an excavator with a masticator, a skid steer, and lots of saws. What an incredible outpouring of support and a hardcore effort by the community to build this fire line. The line we created has become a crucial part of their plan to hold the fire in the canyon and prevent it spreading father south, west, and north. The shot crews have at this point brought fire nearly all the way down the ridges to our line and they expect to hold it here. We have a lot of costs to recoup but it was well worth this effort if we can keep the fire well east of Somerset and Outtingdale, as well as north of Fairplay."

With that being said, every little bit helps. The community has a hefty bill to cover for the equipment they rented and used for days straight. All donations will be going directly to paying for the equipment bills and covering lost wages for those who volunteered to take the time to save lives and homes. Every donation will be considered as another person pitching in to help build what was necessary.
