Helping Bryson with his long term care
Hello! I’m Mandy, Bryson Twedt’s mother. Bryson has been battling Histoplasmosis since 2019 (easier term - a fungus attacking his lungs). After 2 years of doctoring with an infectious disease dr and pulmonologist, 8 pills a day, many blood draws, X-rays, CT’s and 2 biopsy’s, one collapsing his lung they have decided finally it has been a medical treatment failure. They have decided to give him a PICC which is an IV going into his bicep through a vein into his heart. Something he could go home with and go into the vermillion clinic and have his infusion of meds go through which would take 4 hours a day. Sanford of Sioux Falls they wanted to do the first treatment here. He had a terrible reaction causing him not being able to breathe and blacking out. They immediately admitted him into the hospital. Today they are trying the med again through his PICC but at a slower pace. This is something that will be done for at least 6 weeks everyday and unsure if he’ll be able to go home for the duration of treatment. Bryson has not been able to work for 2 months and he has became behind on his bills including his medical bills. Sadly because he is 19 and now considered an adult I can’t stay overnight with him and I will be driving back and forth from Vermillion. Please pray for my son and his recovery! His lungs are damaged for life but there is a chance of ending the histoplasmosis and him living a semi-normal life again. I will try my best to keep everyone updated
