Helping #BergBeatCancer
Cancer sucks. We all know that. But when you actually get the diagnosis...that’s a whole different level of “CANCER SUCKS!!!” The kind of sucks that knocks the breath out of you chest, drops you to your knees, and makes you question everything.
On July 9, 2020, Richard Berg got the diagnosis ... Stage 4 Colon Cancer. And his battle began.
The past 6 months have been filled with challenges. One week after Berg’s 1st chemo session, he ended up in the emergency room with a infection in his colon near where the cancer is. The doctors had to stop his chemo and he ended up hospitalized for 3 months with a variety of complications including a bloody ulcer & an allergic reaction to antibiotics that caused him to lose skin. In early October 2020 he was finally able to resume treatment completed a full 8 week radiation treatment, Monday-Friday combined with daily chemo pills morning and night. At the end of November he was finally able to leave the hospital to rehab @ a friend’s house sohe could have added support and supervision.
This week (January 2021) he began chemo again and got his first scheduled treatment. If all goes well this time, he’ll wrap up this series of chemo treatments in March and hopefully be strong enough to have surgery to remove whatever cancer they can.
While he does have medical coverage, Berg has been unable to work since July and will not be able to work for the foreseeable future. Any help would be appreciated to cover rent, food, transportion, etc. to get him through the challenges of this year. He is facing a long series of treatments and we are hoping this can help removesome of the added financial stress of trying to cover essential needs during this time.
