In mid-February 2022, Ben Loghry shattered his leg and two bones in his foot while doing routine work around his home. Ben had surgery to repair the injuries, but following medical complications, Ben had his right leg amputated from the calf down on April 6, 2022. This tragic turn of events is challenging to process, sobering to accept, and has changed Ben’s life forever.
Ben has not been able to do his regular work at McDaniel & Wallquist Construction for many weeks. Following the amputation, Ben’s activities, including work, will be limited for many more months. Ben could use support for short-term living expenses as well as long-term expenses, such as future prosthetic costs and other necessary items his personal insurance will not cover.
If you know Ben, he may have worked on a project with you or for someone you know. Saying Ben is a hard worker, is a massive understatement. Ben has a high level of skill and knowledge in the construction field, but it is his personal commitment to his job and his customers that is truly remarkable. Time and time again, Ben goes the extra mile to make sure a project is done right or to help someone in need at any time, including off-hours. Ben has been described by more than a few clients, colleagues, sub-contractors, and vendors…not just as a trusted resource, but as a friend.
It is a real challenge for Ben not to work, not only losing the ability to support himself while he recovers, but also losing the daily satisfaction that came from helping others in his work. He will recover, however, it will take great physical and emotional effort to adjust to this new life as an amputee and learn how to resume his career and life on his terms. The process will be slow and tedious. Ben has spent his life helping others and now we have the chance to help Ben as a friend and human being who now needs our support. Thank you for assisting in any way you can.
