On 3/1, Carina started having contractions. She went to the ER where they gave her medications that eventually stopped them. Unfortunately, just 5 days later, contractions started up again so she and Robby made another trip to the ER. This time the twin girls were taken the next day by emergency c-section. Lainey Joe and Brynn Rene were welcomed into the world on March 7th.
Lainey came in at 2 pounds 5 oz, Brynn at 1 pound 8.7 oz. Through a multitude of tests, it was discovered that Lainey had bleeding on her brain and fluid around her lungs. The fluid has since dissipated but they continue to closely monitor the bleeding on her brain. It was discovered that a valve in Brynn's heart wasn't closing, which has been affecting basic bodily functions like her kidneys and blood flow.
The girls were transferred from Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta to Rady Children's in San Diego for specialized care needed for their teeny beautiful bodies.
However, the care in SD doesn't come without extreme costs. Robby and Carina were able to get into the Ronald McDonald House. "Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego provides a “home-away-from-home” for families with children being treated for serious, often life-threatening conditions at local hospitals." But with two children already at home, they are both constantly traveling 1.5 hours each direction to spend time with the kids, take care of the farm and work. On top of high gas prices and the daily commute is the sheer size of the medical bills they face for not one, but two sweet preemie girls.
Carina works at Rancho Christian in Temecula. Robby works at Tractor Supply also in Temecula. Before the girls came, you could always find Robby and Carina hanging out at their home church, Rancho Community. They are incredible God-fearing people along with their beautiful kiddos Gianna (10) and Cash (8).
Please, if there is anything you can give to help this amazing family of faith, your contribution of any size is incredibly appreciated by the entire Corlee and Flores families.
We will update often about the girls with photos! Thank you
