Hi everyone, we are Jazelle and Slayton Sell and on November 26, 2022 we became parents to baby Jett Neal Sell. Baby Jett was born with a lymphatic malformation which formed due to an excess amount of fluid being unable to properly fill anywhere else. So baby Jett does have what looks like a “beard” under his chin. This lymphatic malformation does not affect any internal organs, and the only concerns that the doctors had when Jett was born was his airway and him being able to breathe. Jett was considered a critical airway up until January 12, when they had taken him to the OR to take a look at his airway. They had seen a major improvement and on January 13 they were finally able to take the tube out! Jett has exceeded everyone’s expectations and has progressed so well in these past couple of days.
Since we have been living in SF, with Jett being in the hospital ever since he was born, Slayton and I have not been working and it has been hard for us financially. It has been difficult for us to get by each month with the bills we have. And with such a long hospitalization, we are unsure of what it will be like financially once Jett is finally discharged. We were hoping to be home by the end of January, but it is still unsure of when we can be discharged as there are goals that Jett still needs to meet before going home. And with the mass still being a little big, he is still being given medicine to hopefully reduce the size. So our time to go home is still up in the air. Any amount is appreciated and helpful, and we thank those who are able to donate.
