Hello everyone,
In May our little boy decided to make his premature arrival into the world at 31 weeks. We are so lucky to already have most of everything we need, as Aiyla is 1 year old and we got everything we really needed when she was born.
That being said, what we really need help with right now is funds. Due to me being out at the beginning of our emergency, I am already out of sick/vacation/personal time. When he finally comes home, I will be taking the rest of my leave (5 weeks) to be home with him and really bond. Unfortunately, that time off will be unpaid. I will also need to continue to pay into our health insurance to keep that active. On top of that, the medical bills are beginning to pore in.
We are lucky enough to have health insurance, but between my bills and the NICU bills, we are expecting to have to pay at least $6,000 in medical fees before insurance will take the rest (we hope as we are still unsure how this all works), as that is my out of pocket max for us both. This on top of being out my income, I have added what our mortgage is for the month, and the rest for groceries, diapers, clothes, formula, and anything else we may need in the upcoming future.
As COVID is high, and baby Colt is compromised from being premature, we have decided this may be the better way to go instead of having a traditional baby shower. Especially because we already have most of what we need for him already.
Anything you can give would be greatly appreciated. Between work, Aiyla, and daily visits to the hospital to see Colt, we have had to lean heavily on our friends and family during this time. We appreciate each and every one of you that can help, or already have during such a stressful and emotional time.
