Today little Acelin is 11 days old and he has already had to endure so much so young. His proud parents Katie and Erik excitedly took Acelin home from the hospital at two days old and they were so overjoyed to see their little family grow from 3 to 4. On Wednesday, October 10th their happiness quickly transitioned to a parent's worst nightmare as the family rushed Acelin to the ER because he was showing signs of fatigue, paleness, and an enlarged belly. They immediately knew something was seriously wrong moments after entering as he was rushed to the trauma center and medical staff surrounded him as they worked to save his life. After a rushed transport to Children's Medical Center in Dallas, an emergency exploratory surgery discovered a tear in tiny Acelin's stomach. The wonderful surgeons stitched up the tear, but Acelin was still in very bad shape. He has been in the ICU of Children's Medical Center for the past 7 days with his mom and dad at his side. 

Great news is this strong fella is showing amazing signs of improvement! He was taken off the ventilator a couple days ago and was finally able to breath on his own with only the help of oxygen! Today he has had his first reintroduction to milk and is showing great signs of recovery! Although there is still a long road ahead of him, Acelin is making amazing strides!

After much consideration by his parents, I was given permission to start this fundraiser on their behalf. You can only imagine what it must be like to see your tiny helpless brand new baby go through such an overwhelming fight for his life at only 6 days old.

As he continues to improve to get stronger, we are asking for help from friends and family to ease the grief of hefty medical bills and allow this deserving family to focus on what really matters which is healing and recovery.
