Helping Asher with Rare Diagnosis

My Cousin Patrick and his wife Toni just gave birth to their 2nd baby boy. Asher was born December 3rd and was unable to breathe upon his birth. He was rushed to Riley hospital where they found out that Asher was born with an extremely rare genetic disorder called Campomelic Dysplasia (CD). With CD Asher only had a 10% chance to survive birth and much less to survive his first week. He is a fighter and so far continues to beat the odds.

Asher was born with numerous issues because of CD. He was born with a blocked airway, Pierre Robin Sequence, a heart defect, a U-shaped cleft palate, abnormal bone structure in his pelvis and scapulas, and clubbed feet. Asher will need a tracheostomy surgery done and he will need to stay on oxygen support for the rest of his life.

As of 1/28 he has already had several procedures and surgeries done to correct multiple issues, but he will need several more in the future as well as we get potentially closer to getting out of the hospital. With Asher needing to remain on ventilator for the remainder of his life, mom (Toni) will not be returning to work so that she can provide full time care for Asher at home.

Toni and dad (Patrick) will need to undergo an  RN training program to perform at home care for Asher. This will require an extended leave from work for Patrick as they learn how to provide medical care and balance new at home life and support for Asher and his big brother Dean.

No amount is too small. If you are unable to donate, we understand, but ask that this be shared with your friends and family.  Accepting all thoughts, prayers, and good wishes.
