Helping Andrew and Kaitlin - COVID & Pregnancy
Donation protected
On May 15, 2021 Andrew woke up feeling ill, it felt like more than the usual cold. After a positive COVID test, Andrew began to quarantine at home. By the following week he was feeling bad enough that his fiancé Kaitlin, took him to the Emergency Room where he was admitted. Kaitlin, who was 36 weeks pregnant at the time, stayed home with their two daughters ages 12 and 7.
Over the next few days, Kaitlin began feeling ill also and then tested positive for COVID. She remained at home being cared for by their oldest daughter, friends, and family. Kaitlin’s condition was not improving, and she began struggling to breathe, so she was taken to the emergency room. The first time she was there, they evaluated her and gave her an IV. They said that she had some cloudiness in her lungs, but they sent home to recover. The next day, her condition worsened, and she was taken back to the ER. This time they kept her and began running tests and ordered blood work. As a result of the bloodwork, they became concerned about potential blood clots. Unfortunately, Kaitlin had a reaction to the dye they use, so they were unable to check for blood clots.
On Sunday May 30, 2021 Kaitlin was life-lined to Indianapolis for an emergency C-section at 37 weeks. During all of this, Andrew remained in the ICU with complications of COVID. A healthy baby boy was born at 4 lbs. 14 oz, but Kaitlin did not wake up from the surgery for almost a full day afterwards. On Friday June 5, Kaitlin and the baby were released from the hospital. They are currently staying with family due to her restrictions from the C-section as well as for observation as she remains on oxygen from her COVID complications. Andrew has been moved out of the ICU but still remains in the hospital, recovering from his COVID complications.
These events have created a hardship for their family, as both parents have been unable to work during this time. We are asking for all friends and family (and strangers alike) to come together to support this family during their unexpected hardship. All funds collected will go directly to the family to help them financially get through this time.
**This campaign is being ran by friends of Andrew and Kaitlin, please have confidence in donating, money goes directly to them. Per GoFundMe rules, I must explain who I am. I am a personal friend and neighbor to Andrew and Kailtin. I am also Town Council President for our town and just one of the people in our group who started this campaign.**
