Helping an old sailor, Jane Clegg, stay afloat
Donation protected

All of you who know Jane Clegg, know how incredibly special she is.
For those of you that don't, I hope I can do her justice with my description of her.
Jane wound up giving up her apartment for a life on a boat in 1987, when she was over the age of 50. She moved aboard her baby Schooner, Salignac, with her dogs and cats, all of which she has outlived.
Today, she is 85 years old and retired. She still lives on her sailboat. I think that life on water has helped her stay in better physical shape than most people her age.
Recently, the New York Times wrote a story about her and her unusual dwelling.

Most people over 60 develop an idea that they are old, that there are things they can not do after a certain age. Not Jane. She exemplifies the truest love for life, her spirit commands her body. She has not allowed her age to stop her from living the kind of life that she wanted. Whether it's surgery or a storm, she's gracefully glided through difficult times, always certain that there is no way to go except ahead.
Always punctual for our lunch and dinner dates, always ready to help a friend in need. Always grateful for every new day. She has lived a full, adventurous life.
Jane is modest, honest, smart, joyous, unapologetic, full of incredible stories and unmatched joy for life. A woman who defied all societal expectations of what a woman should be, never loosing her sense of self in the process of life. Always opting for freedom, always opting to do what she loves, always opting to do things her way.
Jane has become a great friend to me over the years. On water as on land. Though, in the recent couple of years, more on land than water due to the boat needing repairs.
Boat life and repairs are not cheap and life on a boat is not easy. As a pensioner, Jane does not have access to the money she needs in order to live the only life that she knows how.
On January 13th Jane is turning 86! For her birthday, her friends and I want to surprise her with a gesture of love and appreciation from her friends, by raising money for boat repairs and for life's other challenges.
This donation will help pay for the already conducted repairs, the spot at the marina and will ensure that Jane can continue living on her boat.
I don't know anyone as deserving of help as this incredible human.
