My name is Jen Pineau, I'm a friend and co-worker with Amy Segura. On Monday July 12, Amy woke to her husband being unresponsive. Amy called 911 and Albert was transported to Rust hospital. Here's a little of their back story. Albert had a stroke in 2012 which left his left side paralyzed. With a lot of hard work he was able to walk again. The family would tease how he had broken bones on his left side, humor helped them in many ways get through this trying time. Recently Albert started getting migraines that mimic a stroke. It is not known if he had a stroke or one of these migraines in the middle of the night that caused him to be unresponsive. On Tuesday Amy was informed by the doctor that Albert was brain dead, he told her she should make arrangements and let the family know. That night when Amy was leaving the hospital she squeezed Alberts hand and told him they had to leave but they would be back in the morning. In that moment Albert squeezed her hand back. Amy told Albert she would fight for him to just give her a sign? Wednesday morning when Amy was visiting Albert she asked him "If you can hear me move or open your eyes" Albert moved his leg and opened his eyes. Amy is having Albert moved to UNM hospital where he can get the proper care he needs. Albert is in critical but stable condition. They took out his breathing tube this afternoon and he is doing good. Amy and Albert have been together for 21 years and married for 15 years. All together they have 6 children, his, hers and theirs. Amy had just returned to work at the casino after being furloughed for 15 months. Amy is the strength and backbone of their family and could use some help right about now. The last thing anyone should have to worry about is money when they are fighting for their husband, bestfriend and partners life.
