Helping Amber through Treatment

Amber Dawn Vincent, 48, of Sulphur, La. She is a Sulphur High graduate of 1993. Amber has 4 biological children and 1 child that she has temporary custody of. Two of these are still under the age of 18 and living at home with her. In 2019, she was diagnosed with rectal colon cancer. She has undergone chemo, radiation, and multiple surgeries. She has been in remission since 2020. In Dec of 2023, her bloodwork started to be questioned which led to additional testing and images. In March 2024, MD Anderson discovered a tumor on her pelvic bone. It is a massive tumor and, at this time, is considered inoperable due to the tumor’s location on the pelvic bone, sciatic nerve, and a major artery in the leg. As of now, she has went through 5 rounds of intense chemo therapy in Lake Charles. However, her surgeon (Md Anderson) stated that, due to the location of the tumor, she must continue her radiation in Houston in order for him to perform her surgery. The chemo has shrunk the tumor to half the original size, so we are on the right path. Amber worked full time for Wisner Security, but as of March of 2024, she has been out of work. She is currently drawing long term disability, but this only covers 60% of her previous income. This has created a financial strain due to the medical expenses brought on by this fight. We are looking to raise funding to help Amber pay for lodging and food while she under goes 13 days of radiation in Houston. This will also help support herself and her 2 16-year-old boys. Once radiation is complete, there is a possibility of additional chemo locally along with surgery. At this time, we are taking it one step at a time, and focusing on her current needs.
