I’m reaching out to our community for help on behalf of my best friend, cousin, and co-worker, Amanda Martinez. Amanda is a beloved bus driver for the Pojoaque Valley School District, known for her kindness, dedication, and love for her students.
On August 2nd, Amanda went to the emergency room with severe stomach pain and was diagnosed with appendicitis. What should have been a 45-minute procedure turned into a complicated 4.5-hour surgery. She developed a serious infection that has left her facing months of recovery.
To make matters more difficult, Amanda is currently uninsured, and the hospital bills are already starting to arrive. As of today, her doctors have not given her a return-to-work date—only that she will be out for a minimum of 8 weeks after the infection heals. This means a long period without income from either of her two jobs, adding financial strain to an already challenging time.
Amanda is stressed & worried for her health and her finances, but she remains hopeful. I am humbly asking our community to rally around her—whether through prayers, monetary donations, or words of encouragement. Every bit of support means the world to her as she works toward healing.
Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
