Emergency Help for Allie Kay & Kylen
Allie and her 1 year old baby boy, Kylen were on their way to daycare and then on to work at 6:35 AM Friday morning when a vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into them head on. Allie's vehicle rolled several times with her and Kylen inside. Fortunately, Kylen was still rear facing in his car seat and miraculously only endured a few cuts and a sprained foot. Sadly, Allie was not as fortunate. She had to be cut out of her car and while they wanted to take her flight for life; they couldn't get a helicopter so this poor girl had to endure an hour ambulance ride to a Minneapolis hospital (HCMC) where she underwent a 6 hour surgery. She has a compound fracture in her left leg; her femur bone went through her thigh. She has a hole in her left lower leg through and through the size of a dollar coin. Her right foot & ankle were sliced open and have numerous stitches. She fractured 3 disks in her back and has cuts, scrapes bruises and other stitches over her entire body (except for her face). She will not be able to hold or help her little boy for months while she recovers. She will be out of work for a minimum of 6 months. Now, let me tell you about Allie - she is a 23 year old single mom who works harder than almost anyone I know. She works as a medical assistant at a hospital in Minneapolis 40 hours a week and is a traveling CPR trainer for Red Cross on nights & weekends AND is a full time medical student! She works just to provide the minimal support needed to feed, clothe and shelter her and Kylen. She lives week to week. She needs money just to make it for the next few months. I've been in her shoes (without the injuries) and I had a LOT of support! She has very little, as the majority of her family is not in MN! Her Aunt Kitty is helping with Kylen right now, but next week Kylen will be back in daycare at $290/week while Allie is in a transitional home. Danny is going to take a leave of absence to help care for her. She is a VERY special friend of mine and my brothers. I cannot even explain how grateful to God I am that her's and Kylen's lives were not taken from us. If you could find it in your heart to spare even $10 for this wonderful woman, Danny and I would appreciate it more than you could imagine!
