Helping Aboubacar’s family
Donation protected
Hello everyone,
Last week I had the absolute pleasure of meeting 7-year-old Aboubacar - a double bilateral amputee just like me! I met Aboubacar because a young girl was brave enough to approach me after a speaking event in the Bronx to tell me all about him and that I had to meet him. I spent some time with Aboubacar and, for the first time, he wasn’t ashamed to remove his prosthetics in front of another person. I felt honored.
Tragically, Aboubacar’s house caught fire two days ago, leaving him, his mother and his older sister without a home and most of their belongings inside. Thankfully, they were able to salvage his prosthetics and a few other items - but not much.
I am calling on my amazing network of friends and family to join my efforts in raising money for Aboubacar and his family. They were only given two days at the hotel (which ends today) and Aboubacar’s mother will have to pay to continue their stay until they have a home again. If any of you have suffered such a loss, you know that could take weeks or months.
Please join me in raising money to help with the hotel expenses, food, clothing etc. It would mean the world to me and he and his family as well. No amount is too small and sharing this for visibility would be equally appreciated.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me help Aboubacar and his family. Life without legs is hard enough - add losing your home and most items in it is unimaginable.
