Helping a wonderful family who is in need!

Hi, My name is Jean Vitas and I truly appreciate you taking a moment to read my story. In 1998 Maria Sardinha, her husband Jose and their 6 children came from the Azores and lived with her sister Maria Resende until they were able to purchase a home. Maria’s sister Maria (all sisters are named Maria just a different middle name) worked for my cleaning company starting in 1990 and asked if I could please hire her sister. Maria came to work for me at Showplace Cleaning in Tewksbury Ma. Maria was so dedicated and worked so hard that once I sold the company she began private home cleaning for many of my family and friends. Maria is so sweet and kind. One example is when she would clean my elderly mother-in-law Bessie’s home, she often made her homemade soups. We all consider Maria family.

March of 2023, Maria’s husband Jose became very ill and was in need of a bone marrow transplant. Jose went into the hospital on September 30th, surgery was performed on October 06th and was able to return home November 03rd.

Prior to Jose’s admittance into the hospital, Maria made many trips into Boston and continued this during his surgery and recovery.

It has been a very difficult time for Maria and her family. Dana Farber is helping with some expense of the expensive medicines. Currently Jose’s weight is 103 pounds. In time we hope and pray his appetite will come back and he will gain his weight back.

Unfortunately, insurance has not covered many of his expensive medical bills.

Maria has had to cut back on her hours for now in order to care for Jose. They have many bills and any help would be a blessing for them.
