Recently, my dear friend and co-worker was the victim of a scam targeting teachers in the CDA school district. During work hours, she was pulled from a meeting and led to believe that she was speaking with a CDA police officer with a warrant for her arrest unless she followed directions. Through a series of threats and manipulation, she was convinced to part with $2000. She was stressed and trying to take care of the issue in order to be on time for her kindergarten classroom.
She is an amazing person working to support her family. $2,000 is a big hit on a teachers salary especially during these uncertain times for teachers in our district.
Can we show her some love and help return what she lost? Any amount will help! She is mortified and wishes to remain somewhat anonymous but I can share details if anyone wants to pm me for verification. Her second baby is due in July. She is blaming pregnancy brain for being duped. I’m blaming an evil scammer taking advantage of an honest person in a stressful situation.
UPDATE: from recipient-
Wow! To say I appreciate everything everyone has done for me is an understatement. Thank you to everyone who donated or reached out after hearing about the scam! Two Mondays ago was one of the WORST days, but this Monday was amazing; I feel so grateful and I have all of you to thank! And don’t worry, I DEFINITELY learned a lesson through all of this; cops don’t call you, they come pounding on your door (words from the REAL police). Thanks again!
