At the start of this week, on the morning of our final exam, one of our nursing school classmates discovered her car had been broken into. A number of her personal belongings were stolen, including her MacBook, iPad, Apple Watch, headphones, makeup bag, wallet, art supplies, and other personal effects.

After the break-in, her debit and credit cards were used in a series of attempted purchases at nearby stores. Thankfully, she was able to report the charges as fraudulent and they were reversed. The police responded to investigate the robbery and are currently reviewing security footage, along with fingerprints that they lifted from the car. Despite that, it is unlikely any of the stolen items will be recovered.

The most urgent loss is her laptop and iPad. These are her only available methods of completing schoolwork. Fortunately, our summer break gives her a little bit of time to get things sorted out.

This fundraiser was started by classmates who care deeply about her. She is not in a financial position to replace these items, and though she would never ask for help herself, we believe this support is necessary and deserved.

Many of the stolen items held sentimental value and can’t be replaced. Our goal is not to replace every single item that went missing, because we know she would not feel comfortable accepting that amount of money. Instead, we hope this can at least ease the burden of replacing the tools she needs to continue in school.
