HELPING MY SON, MY LOVED ONE IN RECOVERY
Donation protected
My name is Lorena, creating this GoFundMe was not easy for me to do, because I’m a very private and prideful person that takes care of my own issues. Doing this is difficult.
This year has been the most challenging and difficult of all. There is no right way to helping a loved one getting the help they need, but I do know that they need to want to get the help and say I’m ready, or I want to do this. A lot of mixed emotions have evolved between the whole family and myself. Havoc and accusations of not doing enough has created turmoil amongst us. To me family is very important and I understand that this illness is difficult to understand, therefore I will pardon them for all the hurtful words and actions. I will continue to do what I feel is right. For those who know me know that to me family everything to me.
It’s challenging when a loved one is struggling with the disease of addiction. You find that essentially you’re powerless to change or fix them. Addiction affects not only the person with the substance use disorder but everyone around them as well. It drains us emotionally, psychologically, physically, financially, and socially.
The war against drugs exists, although some of us refuse to believe it. Some may feel negativity toward it because they do not understand the severity of this illness. Understandably, when you live it or have lived the experience then one has a better outlook and understanding than those who have not experienced it. Support system is very important and giving up on my loved one has not been an option and will NEVER be an option. This illness is a disease.
I try to keep a positive person throughout all the struggles in handling every aspect of every situation as best as I can. Also, I try to keep my faith in God and with prayer to help in these most difficult times.
I can thankfully say that right now my my loved one, my son has entered a recovery center. It is a thirty day program and will have to continue outpatient therapy for many months afterwards. No income is coming in but my own right now. Many blessings to those who suffer from this illness and those who are currently seeking or are in treatment.
Thank you for your support. God Bless everyone that understand and those that are helping. Thank you
