It’s fall in Georgia and that means faith, family, and football. This season looks drastically different from others as we face uncharted territory. On August 26th, Don was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with COVID pneumonia. To say that it’s a miracle he’s alive is no exaggeration. He is still in the ICU and on a ventilator to help him breathe. We stand firm in our faith and are hopeful in the Lord’s promises. We believe that God is working in our lives in far bigger ways than we can see or imagine and know that these trials are for our good and will produce a glorious testimony. Don is surrounded by such an encouraging family expanding from his wife, parents, brothers, and relatives to his fellow teachers, coaches, old classmates, and best friends. To know Don is to love Don, and he is loved so well by so many.

It’s no coincidence that all of this is taking place during Don’s favorite time of the year— football season. As a high school football coach he’s familiar with training in such a way to win the prize. Right now, he’s at a really far away game. His rival seems a little intimidating but my-oh-my are they in for a beating! Don has the ultimate best Head Coach who never makes a mistake and makes all the right calls— and guess what? His team NEVER loses a game. Don is a fighter, “the embodiment of a Hart County Bulldog,” the brightest smile in the room, and the kindest person you’ll meet. We know without a doubt, that he’s going to win this game and walk out of that hospital victoriously.

Don is surrounded by an incredible medical team that we are forever grateful for. The treatment is considered to be a “marathon” and is a very slow and steady race. The Game Plan includes weaning off of the ventilator, completing breathing trials to assess additional respiratory needs, and beginning a rehabilitative program with speech, occupational, and physical therapies.

Your gift will help relieve some of the financial burden that comes along with medical expenses. This will also help with our recurring monthly expenses and provides his wife, Gabbi, with some flexibility of her work schedule, so she can be by Don’s side!

In addition to monetary donations, we can’t express how grateful we are for your continued prayers! We believe in a God who loves us beyond measure and provides for us in every way! It is truly a miracle to see how God has walked with Don, and we don’t take anything for granted. We ask that as you think of Don, you’ll say a prayer for him as well.
