Helping a GREAT old friend's ticker, keep ticking!

Mr. Darren Hammond has been a friend of mine since 3rd grade.  Since I have known him he has always dealt with a heart condition that necessitated him relying on a pacemaker to keep the chambers of his heart functioning.  He has recently been told that his heart will require an upgrade from a 2-lead (wire) pacemaker to a more powerful and modern 3-lead pacemaker. This should make him feel much better and more energetic.  If he does not receive this upgrade, his doctor feels his heart will continue deteriorating and cease to function in approximately 18 months. 
Darren has stayed true to his character our entire lives.  He is not PC, and doesn't always say the soft warm thing.  But he is as loyal as any friend Ive ever had and incredibly hard working.  He supports his wife and 4 children with that great work ethic. One of his kids requires monthly medical attention that consumes a sizable portion of their income.
The situation is that Darren will never allow for his son's needs to go unmet in order for him to be able to meet his deductible to have his new pacemaker placed.  They have forgone everything they could sense learning of his situation- no Christmas, no frills, and selling whatever they can. Darren has headed many fundraisers and community groups, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for others needs.  But, he would never ask for the community or any other human to help him when it is his need.
So I am. PLEASE, DONATE ANY AMOUNT that you can to help extend this man's life and this family's structure.  Please contribute any amount that is feasible.
