I never imagined I would be in a position where I needed to ask for help, but this past year has brought more hardship than my family and I can manage alone.
In early 2025, I lost my job following a federal transition. Around the same time, my family faced a series of serious medical crises that required immediate and ongoing care. I took on significant debt to ensure my parents and a close family member could receive lifesaving treatment and remain stable.
Both of my parents live with chronic health conditions that require continuous medical care. My mother is managing diabetes and serious eye complications that threaten her vision. My father lives with epilepsy and progressive kidney failure after years of treatment and now faces the possibility of dialysis and transplant care. At the same time, a close family member survived multiple, life threatening cancer diagnoses after an extraordinary medical battle that required extensive treatment and support.
These events coincided with my return to graduate school at Vanderbilt University, where I am completing my Master of Public Health. I chose to continue my education because my long term goal is to return to public service and work in conflict and humanitarian health systems, particularly in places where families are often left without protection or support.
Despite actively seeking work, I have struggled to find employment that aligns with my background while balancing full time school. I am currently looking for work in the Nashville area that can accommodate my academic schedule. If anyone is able to help by sharing my résumé, connecting me to opportunities, or considering me for a role, that support would be deeply appreciated alongside or in place of a financial contribution.
Rising rent and accumulated medical debt have made it increasingly difficult to remain housed, and I am exploring alternative living arrangements simply to stay afloat while finishing my degree.
I want to be clear that this request is not about luxury or convenience. It is about survival, dignity, and the ability to keep moving forward during an extraordinary convergence of hardship.
I am asking for support to help cover medical related debt, stabilize basic living expenses, and secure a modest, safe housing solution while I finish my degree and work toward financial recovery. Any contribution, or simply sharing this page, would mean more than I can adequately express.
This request comes with humility and gratitude. I have always believed in service, mutual care, and showing up for others. Right now, I need help doing the same for my family and myself.
How the funds will be used
The funds raised will be used to stabilize essential needs created by an extraordinary convergence of medical and financial hardship, including:
- Repayment of loans taken on to cover urgent family medical care, such as chemotherapy, surgeries, blood work, and related treatment expenses
- Housing stability, including immediate rent support and assistance in securing safe, affordable housing while I complete my degree and work toward financial recovery
This support would allow me to focus on completing my education, continuing to seek employment, and rebuilding financial stability after a year of sustained crisis.
