Helping a Friend

Donation protected
Organizing this for a friend. She is 5 years out of a very serious domestic violence situation and has PTSD, as well as other chronic health issues. She writes, "I’ve learned coping skills [in therapy] that enable me to ask for help instead of collapsing in on myself." But for safety, I'm managing this fundraiser for her. All funds will go directly to her.

Her story...

"I will be completely broke after I pay rent on the first, literally anything will help.

I understand that it’s hard to just trust someone enough to send them money, but I can provide complete transparency.

I have so many health issues and see so many specialists that I *have* to live paycheck-to-paycheck. My temporary layoff is not a new thing. I’ve been with my company since 2018. I love my job. It’s so perfect for me. I am contracted out to them by a temp agency that has honestly treated me better than most people. We just had a giant project that kept me steadily working since the end of 2020. As that project came to a close, the temps were let go for the time being. Again, this is not new.

However, the last time we had a layoff, I was able to do UberEats/Postmates/DoorDash as a placeholder. Enter again my myriad health issues and specialists who all tell me not to put myself at risk that way, especially during the huge uptick in Covid with Omicron.

I have food stamps, and I am currently covered for cat food and litter thanks to some AMAZING friends. This would be for things like toilet paper, my phone bill, and transportation to doctor's appointments.

My rent & utilities are $500, so really and truly any small amount would help because I’m accustomed to living within my means. After leaving my ex, I was homeless for 5 years. I’ve been in my current rental agreement since May, and I don’t want to lose this place.

If you’re still with me after all of that, thank you. To reiterate, I have nothing bad to say about my place of employment. I love my temp agency and I love my job. It’s just become impossible for me to do food delivery in my downtime because I would very likely not survive a Covid-19 infection."

Please share this fundraiser with your friends! The $4,000 goal is to help her through the winter. Thank you so much!
