Helping a friend that lost everything to fire
Donation protected
Fire is a thief, it takes from you and is often very unforgiving. Amanda and her kids lost everything that was in the house in a fire on September 10th.
Amanda is a single mother and is one of the hardest workers I know and even worked 2 full time jobs for several years to provide for her kids. She is strong, independent, inspiring and is often the first one to offer help to anyone who needs it.
She's determined and willing to work to replace everything that she lost in the fire - but I'm putting it out there and asking for help and support on her behalf. I know that family and friends have asked for a gofundme page, so I'm starting one with her permission.
Her youngest son is in his second year apprenticeship as a diesel mechanic and lost tools of his chosen trade he purchased for his job. Amanda herself is also currently putting herself through school to become a nurse.
I cannot imagine what Amanda or her kids went through (and are still going through) watching their house burning then to be told that an excavator was being called in to tear down whatever was left of the house as the fire kept reigniting.
As Amanda said: she's lucky - her kids are safe, her dogs got out and they have a place to stay. It's just stuff, but one of the hardest things for her is the loss of the sentimental things like all her kid's (and hers) baby pictures. I'm hoping with the public's help, we can help ease some of the burden of some of the replacement costs.
