Help Replace What Can Be Rebuilt—and Honor What Can’t

Hi everyone,

I'm creating this fundraiser on behalf of a dear friend who, out of respect for her privacy, will remain unnamed. She and her grandmother have recently endured a traumatic and heartbreaking situation that no one should ever have to experience.

For three weeks, they were forced to live in a hotel after being displaced from their home. Her brother, who struggles with schizophrenia, took over their apartment in a frightening and dangerous way. Despite repeated calls to the police due to escalating violence, no action was taken until the situation became life-threatening. My friend and her grandmother were left with no choice but to flee.

In their absence, their home was destroyed. Important documents were shredded, clothing torn to pieces, and valuables stolen—including TVs, game consoles, and even their WiFi box. There were broken doors, plumbing issues, mold from spoiled food and waste, and walls defaced with permanent marker. Even more heartbreaking is the loss of sentimental items: photographs, letters, gifts, and irreplaceable personal belongings. The emotional toll of these losses is immeasurable.

Though her brother has since been removed and is no longer a threat, the damage—both physical and emotional—remains. My friend is now left trying to rebuild while still balancing work and school. She has shown incredible strength through all of this, but she should not have to carry this burden alone.

Funds raised here will go directly toward helping her replace lost necessities, repair damage, and recover from the immense financial and emotional strain this has caused. Any support, whether through donation or sharing this fundraiser, would mean the world.
