Helping a friend pay for kidney transplant costs
Donation protected
Hello families and friends,
My name is Dagmawi Abebe. I'm fundraising to help my childhood friend Abay(aka Abina). He has married Haimanot (aka Haimi), his high school sweetheart, for over 20 years. They have a daughter who is 18 years old. Haimi is 40 years old with chronic kidney disease that needs transplant. Currently, she is undergoing hemodialysis 3 times a week for over five years. Hiami’s older brother, Daniel, has volunteered to donate his kidney, and medically determined to be the best fit. However, there is not any medical facility in Ethiopia that is equipped to carryout kidney transplant. The alternative and relatively less expensive to do the transplant in India
Abina and I share the same kind of life challenges. About 25 years ago, my dad was diagnosed with heart problems, that needed coronary angiogram. Abina and his parents played a major role to raise funds for medical expenses. My dad is now healthy with no heart problems. I feel that it’s my moral obligation to pay back what I owed.
It’s not an easy process, but the family has been able to raise about 60% ($16,000) of those costs. I’m targeting to raise the remainder $ 10,000. Attached you will find, estimated costs breakdown, and medical board approval.
I’m asking everyone to join me and help this family in need. I would like to express my appreciation in advance to those who are willing to help my cause.
Thank you,
Dagmawi
