Helping a Family Rebuild After Tragic House Fire
Donation protected

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Supporters,
On January 23, in just a matter of moments, my family and I lost our home, our belongings, and our sense of security, in a devastating house fire. I am so beyond grateful that's all we lost and that no one was home that morning. I was at work (I’m a therapist) and Dad had our furbaby, James Brown (aka, the dogfather of soul) in tow for an appointment. My little ones were at school; Bowie 5 ( an aspiring “scientist, musician, DJ, moviestar/moviemaker, photographer, performance artist, astronaut, and future president of the united states -yes he can say that in one breath) and Logan 3 (an aspiring inventor, architect, racecar driver, cookie baker, play dough savant and most importantly aspiring CAT- kid is in a major cat phase- very method actor- grieving the loss of his collection of cat ears and cat stuffies).

As a psychotherapist, I am comfortable assisting and providing support and care to those navigating through tough times. Finding myself in the position of needing to publicly share my tough times and ask for support and assistance, not as comfortable…but here we go.

The financial and emotional burden of navigating all of this is staggering. We cant even begin to estimate the cost of rebuilding our home and replacing all of our belongings, it’s a sum that feels insurmountable, and all together impossible without the generosity and compassion of others. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to reclaiming what was lost and rebuilding a future; Any donations will be used specifically to start over, for housing, and to replace essential items and belongings (all of it- from beds and furniture to clothes and beyond) .

Our number one priority is to create a safe and nurturing environment for our kids and attempt to best navigate the complex process of rebuilding both our physical space and our sense of security.

The outpouring of love, support, compassion, and solidarity that we are already receiving has been such a gift and light during these overwhelming and dark times. Their schools had clothes for them to wear the night of the fire, families have set up a meal train, and tonight we are staying at a classmate’s home (someone who we’ve really only just met). The kindness we’ve been shown-there can never be the words to express our gratitude for all of you.

If you find it within your hearts to offer support in any form — whether it be through financial assistance, donations of essential items, or simply spreading the word— know that it will be received with boundless gratitude and humility.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and considering how you might be able to help.
With heartfelt appreciation,
The Wisehearts
